The Minister for Road Transport & Highways stated on Friday that the proposed expressway between Lucknow and Kanpur will reduce the travel time between the two cities to 30 minutes. As per reports, he also asserted that the foundation stone will be laid for this ambitious project within the next 3-4 months and it is expected that the facility will be operational for the public by 2022. Additionally, schemes have been proposed for 25 to 30 Ring Roads in Uttar Pradesh.
‘Road Revolution’ in the state of Uttar Pradesh
As per reports, the concerned stakeholders have been asked to prepare detailed project reports for this ‘green’ and ‘smart’ initiative. Currently, the stretch of nearly 95 kilometres connecting the two cities via NH 27 witnesses a huge chunk of daily traffic which leads to repeated jams on this route. Now, this new expressway aims to solve such issues offering an easy and fast way of commute between the two prominent cities of Uttar Pradesh. Given the large scale of the multidimensional projects being introduced, it is being said that the state is undergoing a phase of ‘Road Revolution’.
The higher authorities are making sure that no lags or obstacles hamper the execution of this project. In regards to this, the Minister has ordered the officials to assure a smooth and hastened initiation of the expressway works.
Upcoming expressway being built at an approximate cost of ₹4,700 crores
Reportedly, this expressway is being established at a cost of ₹4,700 crores. As per reports, the six-lane corridor will cover a stretch over 63 km and pass through the district of Unnao. As soon as the plans materialise, both cities will be guaranteed boosts in their paths of development.
